Real estate houses the economy. Annually, commercial real estate contributes over 2.3 trillion to US GDP and supports over 15 million jobs. Unfortunately, within the industry, only 3% of all capital investment decisions are made by firms owned by women and people of color combined. The lack of perspectives in institutional real estate prevents organizations from leveraging the full spectrum of talent of individuals with unique insights that can help advance the industry in a competitive global market.
We know that talent is equally distributed in communities nationwide. Unfortunately, this talent is not equally developed. The PREA Foundation is funding the creation of career development programs to help underserved youth access life-changing careers in the vast real estate industry. These opportunities will create economic prosperity for underrepresented youth and create a commercial real estate industry that reflects our society's rich diversity.
